This Gouache painting from 1987 is one of two paintings looking at the Native American figure. "Autumn Thoughts" and "Winter Thoughts". It was inspired by documentary films I saw in the 80's of different Native American tribes and their attire and traditions. The fascination of the strong presence and mergence with nature made a lasting impression on me. Here I depicted a figure sitting on the ground cloaked in an earth-tone red blanket or clothing article. It is snowing and probably cold. Yet, this person is at peace and calmly observes his or her surroundings.
